Warning Issued, Flooding Reported

4:42 p.m. - Palos Park Police released information about their emergency operations. Between 2:30 a.m. and 2:10 p.m. police responded to 42 calls of which most had to do with weather related issues.

There was a vehicle accident with injuries at 131st Street and Route 45, police said. In addition, the following area were hit with significant flooding:

  • Winsor Drive and Wild Cherry Lane
  • Elizabeth Lane
  • 123rd Street near Route 45
  • 119th Street and 83rd Avenue
  • Route 7  and Route 83
  • Route 7 and 131st Street
  • Hillcrest Lane bridge
  • 79th Avenue and Oak Ridge

2:49 p.m. - The flash flood warning has been extended until 5:30 p.m.

10:58 a.m. - The reports that there are numerous road closures and were unable to provide a list because of how busy they are.

10:30 a.m.: Members of Palos Patch's Facebook page are reporting additional flooded areas. The intersection of 103rd Street and Cicero Avenue is reportedly underwater.

Route 83 was closed between 76th Avenue and Southwest Highway. The Country Squire subdivision in Palos Heights is also reported to be experiencing flooded streets.

10:24 a.m. - The Chicago Tribune is reporting that 59,800 ComEd customers were without power by 6 a.m. this morning, with most of the outages concentrated in the southern service area.

According to ComEd's outage map, more than 10,000 customers are without power in the muli-municipality Crestwood region that includes the Palos-area.

10:07 a.m. - The Palos Park Police Department is reporting that the following intersections have been reported as flooded: Forestview Road at 119th Street and 122nd Street; 121st Street and 93rd Avenue; Route 83 and Route 7; 119th Street and  83rd Avenue; Windsor Drive and Wild Cherry Lane.

Police are also reporting trees down and strong currents in some of the flooded areas.

10:05 a.m. - National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Southern Cook County in effect until 11:30 a.m.
