Three of Four in Brutal Palos Parents Killing Case in Court

A young man charged with killing his parents appeared in court with two of the three pals who allegedly helped him.

Three young men charged with teaming to brutally murder the parents of one of them appeared at a hearing in the Bridgeview courthouse Wednesday.

Cook County Judge Neil Linehan set a July 24 date for the three men—John Granat, 19, Ehab Qasem, 21, and Christopher Wyma, 19—to return to court.

The three allegedly murdered Granat's parents, John and Maria Granat, in September 2011. The parents were found dead in the blood-spattered bedroom of their Palos Township home. Their killers beat and stabbed them to death.

A fourth young man charged with murdering John and Maria Granat, 18-year-old Mohammad Salahat, appeared in court alone two days prior.

Salahat never entered the Granat's home on the night of the killings, according to prosecutors. Instead, he waited outside for the younger Granat, Wyma and Qasem, and then drove them away.

Salahat allegedly received $4,000 after the murder and proceeded to spend the money at fine restaurants and on video game shopping sprees.
