Speeding Stop Led to DUI Charges for Palos Heights Woman: Blotter

Mary C. Byrne, 22, was stopped for speeding on July 24, police said.

Mary C. Byrne, 22, of the 6800 block of West Highland, Palos Heights, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 and speeding, according to a Palos Heights police report.

Byrne was stopped at about 2:44 a.m. on July 24 in the 13200 block of South Harlem Avenue, the report states. Police said they stopped her for speeding.

While speaking with Byrne, an officer noticed signs that the she had been drinking, police said. After failing tests for sobriety, she was arrested booked.

Bail was set at $3,000 for Bryne. She is due on Sept. 13 in Bridgeview court.
