Speed and Alcohol Don't Mix: Blotter

A 24-year-old Hazel Crest driver is accused of drunken driving, according to a Palos Heights police report.

A driver from Hazel Crest faces charges after her driving caught the attention of Palos Heights cops.

Sharon Jenkins, 24, of the 2300 block of West 170th Street, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, speeding and improper lane use, according to a Palos Heights report.

Jenkins as stopped at about 1:27 a.m. on Oct. 13, the report states. She was driving faster than the posted speed limit and used her lane improperly.

Police said Jenkins showed signs that she had been drinking.

During the stop, Jenkins performed tests for sobriety and failed, the report states. She was arrested and booked at the Palos Heights Police Department.

Bail was set at $1,000. Jenkins is due on Nov. 5 in Bridgeview court.
