A sex abuse investigation into a former Orland Park priest was reopened Monday — just days after the Archdiocese of Chicago announced that the priest was cleared of suspicion.

On Monday, the Cook County Sheriff's Department said the investigation into Father Michael. W. O'Connell had resumed, reports the Chicago Sun-Times. Also Monday, an Illinois man spoke at a press conference held the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests and said he witnessed the priest engage in improper acts at a school gym.

The Rev. Michael W. O’Connell, 57, who served at Our Lady of the Woods Parish in Orland Park, where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place, returned to active ministry as pastor of St. Alphonsus Church on Chicago's North Side.

He served in Orland Park from 1997 to 2012.

I went to golds gym from 1994 to 2002. You could go there if you were 13 with you parent signing the gym contract releasing them from liability. I remember so creeping church guy from our Lady. He tried making small talk with me. I thought he was a creep and avoided him. I found it weird he used to wear Sandburg football and wrestling there considering I never remembered him coaching there, nor did my younger siblings. I always wondered why some 30 something year old guy was always talking to the high school and college kids while there was plenty of hot trim in there. Do you own research first bravo, you didn't have to be 17 to get into gold's, I started going there when I was 14.

SNAP is looking for anyone to perjure them selves. If it were true what kind of person would walk away after seeing something like that happen? I have children that have been around Father Mike all their lives and they never felt uncomfortable. I continue to pray for all who were hurt by pedophiles. I stand by Father Mike and believe he is innocent of all charges.
