Rollover Accident in Residential Area of Palos Heights

A two car crash left an SUV rolled over on a Palos Heights home's front lawn.

An SUV was upside down in the front yard of a Palos Heights home Tuesday evening after a two-car accident.

Around 4:30 p.m. two cars collided at the intersection of 124th Street and 70th Avenue. The driver of the flipped car had to be cut out of her seat belt, witnesses said.

A Nissan Murano and a later model BMW collided at the intersection without a stop sign. The female driver of the Murano, which flipped over, was transported by ambulance but was conscious and talking, said Mary McWilliams, whose front yard was the site of the crash.

"This is the third time a car has ended up on the lawn," McWilliams said. "I think it is the ditch that keeps them from reaching the house."

She added that there have been additional accidents at the intersection as well.

"I don't know if it's people not paying attention, or speeding," she said.

The driver of the other car remained on the scene and was not seriously injured.

Police on the scene declined to comment. Check back tomorrow for additional details.
