Police: Accident Caused by Drunken Driving

Palos Heights police reports, Dec. 6.

A Palos Heights man involved in an evening traffic accident was driving under the influence of alcohol, according to police. 

On Friday, Dec. 6 at about 4:43 p.m. a traffic accident occurred in the 11800 block of Southwest Highway, police said. When officers arrived on the scene they noticed a strong smell of alcohol on the driver's breath, police said.

Ryan Flannigan, 22, of Palos Heights, was given field sobriety tests and failed, police said. A search of his vehicle also found a smoking pipe and marijuana, police said. 

He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without insurance and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
