Pleasure Lake Attack: Police Release More Details

No arrests have been made in the Sept. 26 attempted robbery in Palos Hills.

A woman riding her bike in Pleasure Lake Park nodded "Hello" to her attacker before he grabbed the handlebars and threw her to the ground, according to details in a Palos Hills police report.

No one has been arrested in the Sept. 26 attack and attempted robbery, said Palos Hills Deputy Chief Jeffrey Cucio. The investigation is ongoing.

The woman was on a path near the Palos Hills lake when a bald-headed man approached, according to the report. Both nodded to each other before the man lunged at her.

"What do you have on you?" the attacker reportedly demanded of the woman. "What money do you have?"

The man then punched the woman in the face and ran away after she said she didn't have any money, the report states.

Police said the man is 6-feet tall, white and in his 40s. He has broad shoulders and was wearing a blue shirt and "ratty" jean shorts, according to the report. The victim said she believed he might be homeless.

Police were called to a North Palos Fire Protection District building at about 3:05 p.m. on Sept. 26. The woman had walked to the building from the park.

Residents are asked to be careful in heavily wooded area near Pleasure Lake and to report anything suspicious.

The lake is located near 10801 S. Roberts Rd.
