Passenger in Hit & Run Tried to Hide in Backseat, Busted for Pot: Blotter

Hide & Seek With Police

Vita Loginaite, 23, of Palos Heights, is charged with possession of cannabis, according to a Palos Hills police report. Bridgeview police called at about 11:30 p.m. to tell Palos Hills officers about a hit and run crash. Palos Hills police found the vehicle reportedly involved in the accident in the 10500 block of 81st Avenue.

An officer allegedly spotted an open bottle of alcohol in the front seat and a passenger, Loginaite, trying to hide in the passenger area, according to the report. When she was asked for an ID, the officer allegedly saw a white plastic bag with a green leafy substance inside, which tested positive for cannabis.

Loginaite is due in Bridgeview court on Dec. 21. The driver was handed over to Bridgeview police.

SATURDAY, NOV. 10

Speeding & DUI Charges

Christopher Kulawiak, 24, of Lockport, is charged with speeding, improper lane use, screeching tires and two counts of driving under the influence, according to a police report. Kulawiak was stopped at about 4:15 a.m. after police clocked his car allegedly doing 95 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 10200 block of Roberts Road. They briefly chased him through a parking lot at 10307 S. Roberts Rd. before he was finally stopped.

Kulawiak was given a field sobriety test, which he failed, according to the police report. He is due in Bridgeview court on Dec. 21.
