In addition to teaching, Regan was also a soccer and track and field coach.

"It's just a challenging time for us when someone so young is involved in an accident like this and something so tragic occurs," Dubec said. "He was very popular with our kids and their parents."

Regan's wife Kelly is a Spanish teacher at the school and recently had a baby in March. She is currently on maternity leave.

"We are all of course very concerned for her," Dubec said.

Counselors have been made available for faculty members and a hotline was set up for faculty members to call in for support.

Dubec says arrangements are being made for a parent meeting with suggestions on how they can talk with their own children about the situation, as well as offering the school's counseling services.

The meeting will likely take place early next week.

"A large number of students and community and staff members knew him, it's a tough day for us," Dubec said.
