Palos Park Police Warn of Suspicious Traveler

Police urge residents to be cautious after one's strange encounter.

Palos Park police are warning residents to be alert and use caution when answering their door, after one resident's strange encounter Thursday morning. 

A man rang the doorbell of a home on Will-Cook Road around 1:30 a.m., claiming he was lost and asking to come inside to charge his laptop, in order to find his way home to Naperville.

The man is described as in his mid-30s, with short blond hair, wearing a blue dress shirt, tie, and dark pants. He was carrying  (Short Blond Hair, Blue Dress shirt, tie, dark pants. He was carrying a briefcase/computer bag.

The man left the area in a white, newer model mini-van. Last seen driving onto Will-Cook Road

Ok, I understand being cautious if a stranger asks to enter your home because he's lost. But what did he do that's suspicious? Did he force his way in? Did he threaten the homeowner? Did he display a weapon? Did he seem deranged? The article does not state anything to that effect. Can it be that he was legitimately lost? I'd be embarrassed to have an article like this appear if it was me who asked for help.

Umm, it's 1 am. If I were lost I'd find a gas station, police station etc. Going to a residential area at that time would send up warning flags for me!

I don't open the door for strangers in the middle of the day.
