Palos Park Police Blotter: Steak Offer after DUI; Vodka in Easter Cup

Palos Park police reports, April 3-13.

SUNDAY, APRIL 10

Does Steak Get You Out of a DUI?

David Czemske, 24, of the 6100 block of 93rd Street in Oak Lawn, was charged with driving under the influence. Czemske was stopped in the 12200 block of LaGrange Road around 2:50 a.m., police said. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of .132, police said. According to the report, Czemske told police, "I know I am drunk, but if I buy you a steak dinner couldn't you just let me go?"

Driving with Vodka

Jaroslaw Zalewski, 44, of the 800 block of N. Fairfield in Chicago, was charged with DUI. Police eventually stopped Zalewski at 111th Street and Keane Avenue after observing his large SUV swerving, police said. After police stopped him, Zalewski took a drink out of an Easter cup before producing his license, police said. Police determined that the cup smelled of vodka. A breath test failed after Zalewski continued to suck in air, locking the device after three minutes of trying, police said.

Cannabis Possession

Raymond Zarther, 26, of the 10700 block of Nashville in Worth, was charged with cannabis possession and possession of drug equipment. Zarther was stopped in the 13100 block of Wolf Road around 7:06 p.m. for a defective exhaust pipe, police said. He was found to be in possession of cannabis and a smoking pipe, police said.

Driving After Beer Bong

Michelle McNamara, 20, of the 8700 block of Vail Drive in Palos Hills, was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, illegal possession of alcohol, driving without a license on person and improper use of registration. 

McNamara was stopped for improper registration and was found to have three cold cans of beer and one empty can, police said. Her second breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of .210, police said. McNamara told police she had drunk six cans of beer in a half hour and also said, "Beer bongs will kill you."
