Palos Park Police Blotter: More Copper Thefts and DUIs

Palos Park police reports, Oct. 1 - 12.

TUESDAY, OCT. 4

DUI on LaGrange Road

Georgios Dragongiannis, 31, of the 8800 block of Mobile Avenue in Oak Lawn, was charged with drunken driving. Dragongiannis was clocked traveling 75 mph in a 45 zone, police said. He blamed the speeding on an injured leg and said that he "could not control what it does," police said. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of .104.

Restaurant Ransacked

Cash was taken from the register of a restaurant located in the 9600 block of 131st Street. An officer noticed the glass door of the closed storefront was shattered and found a cash drawer pried open, police said. It was not known exactly how much cash was taken. A surveillance camera recorded footage of men wearing dark clothes and hooded sweatshirts, police said.

Copper Grab

A water meter and ten feet of copper piping was taken from a home on the 12300 block of Mohawk Drive, police said.

SATURDAY, OCT. 1

Another Copper Theft

A water meter and a section of copper piping were taken from a vacant home on the 12100 block of 88th Avenue, police said. The home is for sale and police believe the thieves used a key left in a real estate lock box to gain entry.
