Palos Hills Police Hoping They Nabbed Burglary Gang

Hours after sending automated calls to residents, cops believe they might have caught group that struck multiple suburbs.

A few hours after warning residents about a string of recent burglaries on Wednesday,  are hoping they caught a group of suspects responsible for the crimes.

Palos Hills Deputy Chief James Boie said two suspects were picked up in connection with a burglary Wednesday afternoon by detectives working with a task force.

No charges have been filed and it's unknown if the suspects are the same people responsible for three burglaries in Palos Hills in the past two months and others in Hickory Hills, Bridgeview and Burbank.

“We’re still investigating and hope to have information available (Thursday),” Boie said.

At 11 a.m., the department issued automated calls to residents, alerting them to the multiple burglaries in the area. Boie said the department and a task force have been working for a month on trying to catch this group.

“They go to a house and usually back into the driveway and they usually have two or three others with them,” Boie said. “One of them will get out of the car and start knocking and ringing the doorbell."

Usually, if someone comes to the door, the thieves have been asking how to get to La Grange Road.

"If no one comes to the door, they will either leave and come back a short time later or if they are confident no one is home they will break in and take whatever is available," Boie said.

He added that there were four reports from residents who notified police that someone came to their doors asking for directions and left.
