MONDAY, JULY 11

Rock Meets Window, Rock Wins

A rock was thrown through the front window of a home on the 9900 block of 88th Avenue, police said. The resident reported seeing an older-model Berretta driving slowly in the area.

Apartment Burglarized

An apartment on the 10100 block of South Hill Terrace was robbed, police said. The sliding patio door was found open and a DVD player, two flat-screen televisions and jewelry was taken, police said.

Damage to Durbin's

The front window of Durbin’s, 10154 S. Roberts Rd., was broken and the telephone line was cut, police said. A man with a backpack was seen throwing a rock at the window on security camera footage, police said. It is believed that it was the same man who was earlier denied entrance because he was wearing a backpack.

Mailbox Smasher

Daniel Symons, 21, of Palos Hills, was charged with five counts of criminal damage to property. A witness who saw him damaging mailboxes in the area of Westwood Drive identified Symons, police said. Symons later admitted to the crime, police said.
