Palos Heights Woman Harassed Man Since 1998: Police

Taghreed Abusharif, 48, is charged with stalking. She was arrested on Tuesday after an investigation by Palos Heights police.

A 48-year-old Palos Heights woman with a history of harassment continued to stalk a man even after prior arrests, police said.

Taghreed Abusharif, 48, of the 12600 block of south Massasoit, is charged with stalking, according to Palos Heights police. She was arrested Tuesday.

A Fifth District court judge set bail at $500,000 on Wednesday for Abusharif.

Abusharif met the Palos Heights man in 1998 and started behaving in a way that alarmed him, police said. Abusharif has been arrested four times since that first contact. She was charged with trespassing three times in Palos Heights and with telephone harassment by authorities in Oak Lawn, where the man runs a business.

Several orders not to speak with the man were issued to Abusharif by Cook County judges over the past five years, said Palos Heights Sgt. Tim Holder.

Authorities decided to charge Abusharif with stalking based on the prior arrests and alleged continued contact with the man.

Abusharif is due in Bridgeview court on May 2.
