Palos Heights Police Blotter: Sheriff's Investigation Leads Heights Police to Gun Arrest

Palos Heights reports, Feb 7-12

SUNDAY, FEB. 12

Mum's on Stolen Gun

Mohammad A. Damra, 19, of the 8800 block of 84th Street in Justice was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and theft. Palos Heights police said the charges stem from a Cook County Sheriff’s Department investigation in unincorporated Burbank that led detectives to a theft in the 12500 block of Harold Avenue. Damra was arrested around 3 a.m.

Police said a rifle was among the stolen items found in Damra’s possession, but they refused to release any further information.

Possession of Marijuana

Nicholas Hullett, 27, of the 9100 block of Orchard Lane in Bridgeview was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they stopped Hullett’s car at Route 83 and Harlem Avenue around 2:15 a.m., but gave no reason for the stop. Officers reported smelling marijuana, searching the car and finding a pipe.

SATURDAY, FEB. 11

DUI of Drugs

Jason Farr, 23, of the 9300 block of 111th Street in Palos Hills was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they stopped Farr’s car in the 7600 block of College Drive around 7:30 a.m. for speeding and driving on expired registration, without a seatbelt. Officers reported finding a pipe. Farr was arrested after showing “signs of impairment by drugs,” police said.

He was also charged with speeding, expired registration and no seatbelt.

FRIDAY, FEB. 10

DUI

Matthew Mackovak, 31, of the 10500 block of 80th Court in Palos Park was charged with DUI, driving on a suspended license and no insurance. Police said they found Mackovak passed out behind the wheel of his car, in the intersection of Route 83 and Harlem Avenue around 9:45 p.m. He was arrested after refusing field sobriety tests, police said.

TUESDAY, FEB. 7

DUI

Michael Murphy, 56, of the 13100 block of Timber Court in Palos Heights was charged with DUI. Police said Murphy was involved in a car accident in the 13400 block of Ridgeland Avenue around 6:45 p.m. He showed “signs of impairment” and was arresting after failing field sobriety tests, police said.
