Palos Heights Police Blotter: Grocery Store Thefts, GPS Unit Recovered

Palos Heights police reports, April 8-12.

TUESDAY, APRIL 12

Drunk Drifting

Elyse Batka, 22, of the 8700 block of 166th Place in Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and no insurance. Police said they stopped Batka’s car in the 12000 block of Harlem Avenue around 2 a.m. for drifting between lanes.

SUNDAY, APRIL 10

Grocery Theft

Dina M. Karanikolas, 39, of the 14000 block of James Drive in Crestwood, was charged with retail theft for leaving a grocery store at Ridgeland Avenue and 127th Street around 8:30 a.m. with several unpaid items in a shoulder bag, police said.

SATURDAY, APRIL 9

Walking Pharmacy Arrested in Pharmacy

Melissa S. Lloyd, 31, of the 6200 block of 127th Street in Palos Heights, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they received a suspicious person’s complaint around 5 p.m. from the Ridgeland Avenue Walgreens. Lloyd was searched and found to be in possession of marijuana, prescription pills, a white power, a burnt smoking pipe and a hypodermic needle, police said.

GPS Unit Recovered, But What of the Loose Change?

Eric J. Bauer, 18, of the 12600 block of Ridgeland Avenue in Palos Heights, was charged with felony burglary to a motor vehicle. Police said Bauer was in possession of a GPS Unit that was reported missing on April 4. He was arrested in the 12100 block of Flambeau Drive around 11:45 p.m. after an officer saw him darting across Ridgeland Avenue, police said.

FRIDAY, APRIL 8

Liquor Theft

Kelli A. Cloney, 40, of the 9900 block of California Avenue in Evergreen Park, was charged with felony retail theft for leaving a grocery store at Harlem Avenue and 127th Street around 3 p.m. with four unpaid bottles of vodka totaling $150, police said. Prosecutors approved a felony charge because Cloney has a previous conviction for theft, police said.

Cold to Touch

Mitchell P. Clark, 18, of the 9300 block of Longwood Drive in Chicago, was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor around 11:45 p.m. Clark, a passenger in a car stopped in the 12200 block of Cheyenne Avenue for an unrelated reason, “was in possession of 6 sealed Bud Light cans, cold to touch,” police said.
