Orland Park Man Gets 5 Years For Palos Ex-Girlfriend Attack

An Orland Park man pleaded guilty to burglary and domestic battery in exchange for prosecutors dropping home invasion, aggravated battery and other charges.

By Joseph Hosey

An Orland Park man charged with breaking down the door of a former girlfriend's home and brutally attacking her pleaded guilty and took a five-year prison sentence.

In exchange for 46-year-old Ralph Grajek pleading to a count each of burglary and aggravated domestic battery, prosecutors dropped charges of home invasion, aggravated battery, criminal damage to property, and additional counts of burglary and aggravated domestic battery.

Grajek received credit for the 194 days he spent locked up in the Cook County Jail following his arrest in February.

After breaking down the door of his former girlfriend's Palos Township home, Grajek fractured the woman's collarbone, a source said. He also reportedly tore a phone off the wall when the woman tried to call the police.

The law caught up with Grajek about a week later in Chicago Ridge. He was taken into custody without incident.
