Orland Man Jailed on Sex Charges Says No Deal to Prosecutors

Kevin Skaritka, who is accused of sex crimes in Palos Hills and Orland Park, rejected an offer from prosecutors and chose to go to trial.

An Orland Park man jailed on separate sex cases rejected a plea deal from prosecutors and is set to go on trial in August.

The lawyer for 37-year-old Kevin Skaritka met with prosecutors and Cook County Judge John Joseph Hynes in a closed door meeting to try to hammer out a deal Thursday morning.

The attorney, Robert Callahan, said he relayed the offer from prosecutors after he emerged from the meeting. But the deal apparently wasn't good enough for Skaritka.

Skaritka was supposed to go on trial in September for allegedly molesting—and exposing himself to—his girlfriend's teenage daughter while in Orland Park and in Palos Hills. But that case was pushed back when he caught new charges for allegedly attempting to exchange naked pictures with a 14-year-old girl in St. Louis.

The teen girl turned out out to be an undercover cop, police said. Skaritka was out on bond when he was allegedly trying to set up the picture swap with the "teen."

Skaritka actually did send a naked picture of himself, police said, as well as a second sexually explicit photo. On another occasion, he initiated a video chat where his face and nude body were exposed, police said. Skaritka allegedly requested nude photos in return.

Skaritka was taken into custody again after his second arrest and is being held in lieu of $2 million bond.
