Newsworthy: After Referendum Passage, Palos Fire Talks Transparency

Palos Fire Chief Steven Carr and the Board of Trustees made the news this week with plans about transparency in the wake of a $1.9 million yearly increase to their budget.

Palos Fire Chief Steven Carr and the Board of Trustees spent much of last week's monthly meeting discussing plans that would make the board's business more transparent and open to public viewings.

In the past meetings were held in the Fire Station One's basement, recent meetings have been televised and held at .

“I think that it behooves us to have as many meetings here as possible,” Board Secretary Addison Woodward said. “It’s open to the public and it’s televised and it doesn’t hurt us.”

Carr plans to provide the board and the public quarterly updates about the exact ways in which referendum money has been spent. 

Meetings with those quarterly reports will be held at the Kaptur Center and televised, while the other monthly meetings will take place at the fire station.
