Midlothian Man Arrested In Connection to Death Investigation of Worth Woman

Twenty-year-old Midlothian man charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance in connection to ongoing death investigation of Worth woman.

Worth Police have charged a 20-year-old Midlothian man in connection to an ongoing death investigation of a woman reportedly found with fatal injuries in Worth on Friday evening.

Eric Steven Johnson was charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance, Worth Police announced on Sunday.

The arrest came as a result of an investigation into the death of Brittany Wawrzyniak, 18, of Worth. The story began to unfold when officers responded to a report of an accident with injuries around 8 p.m. Friday, near 115th Street and Beloit Avenue.

Police did not specify the type of accident involved. 

The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is assisting Worth Police in the ongoing investigation. Officials had not further comment on Johnson's role, if any, in the Worth woman's death.

Police would not confirm any circulating rumors or reports on social media, including a Facebook page that was set up on Saturday calling for a young man and young woman from the area to be taken into custody.

Friends also set up a Facebook page for the young woman, “RIP Brittany Wawrcyzniak.”

A candle light vigil is being planned in Wawrcyzniak’s memory at 7 p.m. Monday, at 115th Street and Beloit Avenue, in Worth.
