Matteson Man, 81, Charged with Sexual Abuse of Granddaughter

The incident involved Hinshaw and a relative under the age of 12, Palos Heights police said in a release.

An 81-year-old Matteson man is accused of sexually abusing his granddaughter, Palos Heights police said Thursday.

Norbert Hinshaw, of the 200 block of Blackthorn Road in Matteson, was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse after an investigation into the Easter morning incident involving Hinshaw and his granddaughter, police said in a release.

The incident reportedly took place outside a Jewel-Osco in Palos Heights, where the family had stopped for groceries Easter morning. Hinshaw was alone in the car with three children at the time of the abuse, said Palos Heights Police Detective Jerry Wodka.

The victim is not a resident of Palos Heights, Wodka added.

Hinshaw is scheduled to appear at a bond hearing May 8 at the Bridgeview courthouse.
