Man Arrested for Pot Possession with Young Child in Back Seat

Palos Heights police reports, July 28- 24.

Nageab Khalil, 25, of the 9500 block of Massasoit in Oak Lawn, was stopped at 8:18 p.m. in the 7600 block of College Drive on July 24 for not wearing a seat belt, police said. 

The report indicates that officers also noticed that a young child was in the back seat and not properly secured in a child safety seat. A strong odor of cannabis was also detected, police said.

After performing a search of the vehicle officers found cannabis inside the car. He was charged with possession of cannabis and cited for failure to wear a seat belt and failure to properly secure a child.

Bail was set at $1,500 and Khalil faces an Aug. 16 court date.
