Man and Woman With 4 Warrants Between Them, Stopped in Stolen Car on Valentine's Day

A woman was charged with obstructing an officer and possession of drug equipment after hiding from police in Palos Heights.

A car driving down Harlem Avenue in Palos Heights was stopped on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 7:31 p.m. after a registration check revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Driving the car was Daniel Stephens, 36, of the 2100 block of E. 218th Place in Sauk Village. Also inside was Patsy Stephens, 41, of the same address.

Police determined that the car was reported stolen out of Sauk Village and that Daniel Stephens was not only driving on a suspended license, but had a warrant out for his arrest from the Lake County Sheriff's Office in Indiana, police said.

As police were conducting the stop, Patsy Stephens fled from the car and attempted to hide from police as they ran after her, police said. Police discovered that she had three outstanding warrants in Sauk Village, Porter County, Ind. and Lake County, Ind., police said.

In addition, Patsy Stephens was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. She was charged with obstructing a police officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Daniel Stephens was charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle and driving on a suspended license.

The pair will appear in court on April 4.
