House Burns While Palos Park Couple is Out of Town

Fire officials believe a Wednesday morning fire started in the garage of a home at the intersection of 123rd Street and Mohawk Road.

Investigators are trying to determine what sparked a house fire Wednesday afternoon in Palos Park.

Fire officials say the blaze started somewhere near or in the garage of a home at the intersection of 123rd Street and Mohawk Road. It spread to the attic and was heavily involved when fire crews arrived around 10:30 a.m. at the one-story home.

No one was home when the fire ignited, said Cpt. Jim Graben of the Palos Fire Protection District. The older couple who lives at the house was out of town, according to Graban.
