Former Christian H.S. Teacher is Set to Plead to Sex Crimes

A former Southwest Chicago Christian High School music teacher arrested in April is set to plead guilty next month to sexually abusing students.

The lawyer for a former Southwest Chicago Christian High music teacher charged with sexually abusing students said his client may plead guilty next month.

Kenneth Martin, 34, just wanted another court date "so he could take care of some affairs and we'll come back," his attorney, Brian Shields, told Judge Colleen Hyland during a Tuesday morning hearing at the Bridgeview courthouse.

The Palos Heights police arrested Martin in April. Two students reportedly went to the police a year before that and accused Martin of engaging in inappropriate relations with them in 2009.

One of the students was 16 at the time. Martin, who in 2009 went by the name Kenneth Whitney and at some point used the name Kenneth David Haug, according to court records, reportedly taught the two music.
