Flash Flood Watch Issued for Cook County

The latest on severe weather warnings for the Palos area.

As thunder roars and the rain continues to fall, the National Weather Service is warning local residents about severe weather. 

A flash flood watch has been issued for Cook County and will last until 7 a.m. on Friday, May  4. Northern Cook County and parts of DuPage County are currently under a flash flood warning.  

The NWS predicts that humid conditions and slow moving thunderstorms will result in a heavy rainfall throughout the night. Areas near creeks, streams or other bodies of water should be especially cautious.

Motorists should be extremely cautious when crossing roadways that appear to be flooded. 

The NWS says that storms are in a line extending from Burbank to New Lenox and are moving east at 20 miles per hour. The storm is capable of producing quarter-size hail.
