Dummy Sold Laced Smarties to Undercover Detectives: Police

Alexander Pacura, 21, of Palos Hills, faces a felony drug charge following his arrest on July 26, Palos Hills police said.

A Palos Hills man is in trouble with police over some sweet treats with an illegal kick.

Alexander Pacura, 21, is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance on July 26, Palos Hills police said.

Pacura is accused of selling candy laced with a drug to undercover detectives, police said. He appeared in Chicago court on July 27 for a bond hearing.

The Smarties candies tested positive for the amphetamines, a schedule 1 narcotic, police said.

Amphetamines increase focus and keep the user awake longer while decreasing appetite and fatigue. Long-term use of high doses can cause delusions and psychosis. They are commonly prescribed to children as treatment for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Palos Hills Police Chief Paul Madigan expressed concerns about how illegal drugs are being distributed and warns parents to speak with their children about how narcotics are making their way into the community.

Police report information is provided by the Palos Hills Police Department. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If you or a family member are charged or cited and the case is subsequently adjudicated, we encourage you to notify the editor. We will verify and report the outcome.
