Fight Leads to Battery Charge

Jasper Avila, 18, of Palos Hills was charged with battery, according to a report. Officers were called to investigate a fight at about 1:13 p.m. in the 8000 block of 111th Street. Police said Avila reportedly punched someone in the face.

Tennant Leaves Behind $4,500 in Damage

A landlord called police to an apartment in the 11200 block of Moraine Drive to report criminal damage to the property. The landlord said the tenant had recently left and, after going through the apartment, found there to be $4,500 in damage.

K9 Helps Track Palos Hills Man

Alphonso Duarte, 19, of Palos Hills is charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a report. Police said they were investigating a person suspected of having marijuana when a suspect ran away. K9 Wolf and his handler were called to search the suspect's car. Officers later arrested Duarte when he returned to the area, police said.
