Methadone, Marijuana Result in Drug Charges for Two Drivers: Blotter

DUI and Drug Charges for Oak Forest Driver

Elizabeth C. Ortega, 31, of the 4800 block of West 157th Street in Oak Forest, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, transportation of alcohol and two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a report. Police said Ortega's vehicle was stopped for speeding at about 2:43 a.m. near 12900 S. Harlem Ave. During the stop, officers saw the driver had bloodshot eyes and could smell alcohol, police said. Ortega failed sobriety tests and tested a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08. Police searching the vehicle found two smoking pipes and a leafy substance. Ortega was booked and given a bond of $1,500.

New Lenox Driver Found with Methadone

Joanne L. Crosby, 40, of the 900 block of Grand Mesa Drive in New Lenox, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving with a revoked license, driving without insurance, speeding and driving with a suspended registration, according to a police report. Police said Crosby's vehicle was stopped for speeding at about 4:44 p.m. near 11900 S. Harlem Ave. Officers found her driver's license had been revoked and the vehicle's registration was suspended. During a search of the vehicle, police found eight pills that they believed were Methadone. The driver reportedly did not have a valid prescription. Crosby was booked and no bond was issued.
