Driver Stopped on College Drive Was Over Legal Limit: Police

Palos Heights police report, Aug. 31.

A Blue Island driver is accused of driving over the legal limit in Palos Heights, police said.

Marta Halewicz, 39, of the 2900 block of Everett Street, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, driving without a license and improper lane use, according to a Palos Heights police report.

Cops stopped Halewicz at about 5:09 a.m. on Aug. 31 in the 6300 block of West College Drive for improper lane use, the report states. Police said an investigation determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol.

Halewicz took a breath test, which resulted in a BAL greater than 0.08, the report states.

Bail was set at $3,000, police said. Halewicz is due on Sept. 27 in Bridgeview court.
