UPDATED: Activity on Cal-Sag Channel Confirmed to be Training Exercise

Initial reports of an incident on the Cal-Sag Channel in Palos Heights have been confirmed to be a training incident.

An earlier report of an incident on the Cal-Sag Channel in Palos Heights has been confirmed to be a training exercise.

A team was dispatched early Saturday morning to the Cal-Sag Channel and activity is still underway. 

The put out a call for a team to assemble at 7:30 a.m. and launched boats from the 115th Street boat launch on the Cal-Sag Channel. One Palos dive rescue boat could be seen later Saturday morning.

An official for the Orland Fire Protection District said it is a training exercise. "We do this monthly," he said. There are emergency vehicles from Palos Heights, Orland and New Lenox parked in the area. "We have a diver in now," said the Orland Fire Protection District official.
