The future for the Village of Robbins' top cop hangs on the outcome of a closed-door meeting set to take place tonight.

Holmes, 66, has been suspended since Dec. 26 after village officials found out about his arrest earlier in the month, said village Administrator Napoleon Haney.

Currently, Holmes is a member on the Community High School Dist. 218 school board, that includes H. L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn, and Alan B. Shepard High School in Palos Heights.
Police stopped Holmes in , according to reports. Holmes had a flask of liquor in his pocket and a blood-alcohol content more than twice the legal limit. The Robbins police chief failed field sobriety tests and was charged with two counts of DUI.
This is the second time Holmes has been arrested for DUI. The first incident happened in March 2010, also in Midlothian, where Holmes allegedly pulled into oncoming traffic. Holmes was suspended with pay after that first arrest while his case was under review and was given a verbal warning by Robbins trustees.
Haney said the village has no official comment on Holmes or his charges yet. A statement regarding his job in the Robbins Police Department will be released Friday.
