An area man was the victim of an apparent Craigslist deal gone bad over the weekend.
On Saturday, Dec. 1 a man who had advertised his iPhone 5 for sale on Craigslist was to meet the potential buyer at Shell Gas Station, 10300 S. Harlem Ave.
When he was showing the potential buyer the phone at the gas station another man approached him to ask for directions, police said. While he was giving the man directions the potential buyer took off with the phone and ran into a nearby tan vehicle, police said.
The supposed buyer was a black male in his early 20s and the man asking for directions was a black male in his 40s, police said.
