Cook County Police Still Searching for Road Rage Shooter

Cook County police are still searching for a man believed to have shot and injured a motorist during an  near Palos Hills and .

The Cook County Sheriff's Police Department issued an electronic alert Saturday detailing the incident, which occurred Feb. 13 at 107th Street and 104th Avenue between two forest preserves.

Frank Bilecki, spokesperson for the Cook County Sheriff's Office, said the victim—a 58-year-old Downers Grove man—told police he was heading east on 107th Street in a black Buick LaCrosse when he accidentally cut off a gray or silver pickup truck. The victim pulled over to apologize, and the drivers exchanged words, police said.

Within seconds, however, the situation turned violent.

Bilecki said the suspect exited his truck, pulled out a gun and fired one shot at the victim, who was sitting in his vehicle. The truck driver fled the scene in an unknown direction, and the victim called 911 .

Sheriff's police said paramedics from the  rushed the man to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, where he underwent surgery. He remains in stable condition, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male between 20 and 30, with a possible olive complexion. A  to the public Feb. 14.

Editor's Note: Cook County police originally reported the location of the shooting as 107th Street and Archer Avenue in Lemont. Police later clarified that the incident occurred on 107th Street as the victim was approaching 104th Avenue, which is near Palos.
