Chicago Man Sought in Palos Hills Bank Robbery

The FBI believes Joseph Anderson, 32, robbed three Bank of America branches, including one in Palos Hills in April and another in a different suburb Monday morning. So far, Anderson is only charged in a third robbery at a Norridge branch.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation believes a Chicago man is responsible for robbing the Bank of America branch in Palos Hills last month.

Joseph Anderson, 32, is charged with one count of bank robbery from an April 29 heist at a Bank of America branch in Norridge, according to the FBI. Investigators say Anderson held up three Bank of America branches in the Chicago suburbs, including the Palos Hills robbery on April 19 and another location Monday morning in Willowbrook.

A hotel employee saw surveillance photos of the robber posted on a social media site by a Chicago news agency, and identified Anderson as the Norridge bank robbery suspect, according to the FBI. He was identified as a former guest of the hotel.

Authorities have not charged Anderson with the Palos Hills and Willowbrook robberies, according to authorities. In those cases, the robber demanded money and threatened harm to the bank personnel.

The Palos Hills robbery happened at around 1 p.m. on April 19 at the Bank of America branch, 10260 Roberts Road. The man was armed, but did not show the weapon during the robbery, police said. He left with an undisclosed amount of money and was believed to have fled in a Checker Taxi cab.

Anderson threatened to blow up the Norridge bank if the teller pushed any buttons to alert authorities, according to the criminal complaint. He then ran away after getting the money, the complaint states.

The Chicago FBI office is investigating the robberies in coordination with the Palos Hills, Norridge and Willowbrook police departments.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to Anderson’s arrest.

Anyone with any information about Anderson’s whereabouts is asked to call the Chicago FBI at 312-421-6700.
