Charges Filed Against Man Accused of Stabbing Wife and Daughter

Official charges have been filed against a Palos Hills man accused of stabbing his wife and then his daughter during a domestic incident at their home, police said.

Charges have now been filed against a Palos Hills man accused of stabbing his wife and daughter during a domestic incident at their home.

Waldemar Dzbik, 50, has been charged with one count of attempted murder for stabbing his wife multiple times and one count of aggravated domestic battery for stabbing his daughter in the 9700 block of Maple Crest Drive.

On Monday, Jan. 7 police say that Dzbik's daughter, 19, heard a commotion in an upstairs bathroom and entered to see her father stabbing her mother in the chest. When she tried to get him to stop he turned and stabbed her, police said.

The women then fled to a neighbors house while Dzbik got in his car and fled as well. After police arrived the women were taken to Advocate Christ Hospital where their conditions were stable.

A few hours later Palos Hills Police Chief Paul Madigan found Dzbik sitting in a parked car near a trucking outfit in suburban McCook, police said. Dzbik then fled in his car from the area and was eventually stopped and arrested in the 7800 block of 47th Street, police said.

Police have confirmed that they have previously responded to domestic incidents at the home.

Dzbik will appear in bond court at Bridgeview Courthouse.
