Alsip Man Found Guilty of Murdering FBI Informant

An Alsip man accused of shooting an FBI informant twice in the head, who was cooperating in an active undercover investigation in 2006, was found guilty, Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez said in news release.

A Cook County jury handed down a guilty verdict for first-degree murder to Jerry Henderson, 41, on Tuesday. Henderson was convicted of shooting and killing Timothy Forrest, 41, in May 2006.

Forrest was shot to death when he met with Henderson in a car in a parking lot outside the Dolton Animal Hospital as FBI agents monitored the meeting nearby, the Associated Press reported at the time.

Prosecutors said that Forrest had agreed to purchase firearms and grenades from Henderson as part of an undercover investigation. Forrest was wired and provided with $15,000 in cash and agreed to meet Henderson.

Authorities monitoring the operation saw Henderson enter Forrest’s car and have a conversation. Henderson was observed getting out of the murdered man’s car and leave in a rented car.

FBI agents said they found Forrest with two bullet wounds to the head and the $15,000 missing. The next day Henderson was located at an apartment on Chicago’s South Side, the news release said.

Authorities recovered a 9mm Ruger handgun, which ballistics later determined was the weapon used in Forrest’s murder. Also recovered at the apartment was $13,000 of the missing money.

The jury reached its verdict Tuesday in the Markham courthouse. Henderson, who faces life in prison, will be sentenced on Feb. 26.
