Palos 118 hosts annual bilingual night

Bilingual Parents Night on September 24 provided Palos East and West ELL (English Language Learner) families with tools to support their children at home in their native languages.  About 40 parents in attendance were provided reading and math strategies, a tour of the school, discussions about the benefits of bilingualism, instruction on how to navigate the school website and the new Wonders reading program.  In support of the event, local businesses donated appetizers from Arabic, Greek, Polish, Lithuanian, Mexican, Italian, and Chinese cultures.  Prizes were also donated by local businesses including; Al-Basha, Gorka Deli, Lucano's, Hunan Inn, Sylvan Learning Center, Jullianni's Pizza, and Fannie May.  Palos East and West teachers not only donated prizes as well, but also provided activities for children so parents were able to fully participate in the evening.
