A successful Bilingual Parents Night on February 27 provided Palos East ELL (English Language Learner) families with tools to support their children at home in their native languages.

A successful Bilingual Parents Night on February 27 provided Palos East ELL (English Language Learner) families with tools to support their children at home in their native languages.  About 30 parents in attendance were provided reading and math strategies, a tour of the school, discussions about the benefits of bilingualism, and how to navigate the school website. Local businesses donated different cultural food including Arabic, Polish, Lithuanian, Russian, Mexican, Italian, and Chinese appetizers. Huntington and Sylvan Learning Centers, Pops, Jimmy John's, and Nick's Barbeque also contributed prizes.  Palos East teachers provided activities for children so parents were able to fully participate in the evening.
