Palos Community Hospital Honors Staff during National Nurses Week

Palos Community Hospital is proud to honor its nurses during National Nurses Week.

Palos Community Hospital is proud to honor its nurses, who are dedicated to providing quality health care to the families in our surrounding communities.

National Nurses Week is celebrated each year from May 6 to May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is the founder of modern nursing. The week-long event shines a spotlight on the importance of nursing and the role nurses play in meeting the health care needs of our society.

The theme for this year’s event is “Nurses – Delivering Quality & Innovation in Patient Care.”

In honor of National Nurses Week, the hospital scheduled many activities for the staff, including fruit and cookie baskets at each nursing station and raffle prizes. Pastoral Care performed “The Blessing of the Hands” on Tuesday and Thursday. A Nurses Day Reception was held Wednesday, with a meal, video presentation of the Nursing Department in action and visits by the executive staff, who thanked the nurses for all they do for Palos Community Hospital.

“We are incredibly grateful for the tireless efforts of our nursing staff,” says Rose Demask, vice president of Nursing. “And we are proud of their around-the-clock compassion. They give patients at Palos the same respect and care they give to their own family members.”
