Moraine Valley Men's Basketball Claims NJCAA Region IV Crown, Headed to Nationals

MVCC men's bball headed to national tourney

After narrowly missing a trip to nationals in 2009 and 2010, the men’s basketball team broke the cycle and advanced to the NJCAA Division II championship after downing Elgin Community College 75-64 on March 10 to win the Region IV District B title.

This is the first time the Cyclones have qualified for the national tournament under head coach Dedrick Shannon. The last time the men's team competed in nationals was in 2002 under former head coach and current Moraine Valley athletics director Bill Finn.

The tournament will be held March 20-24 in Danville, Illinois. The Cyclones (26-7) will kick off the championship at 9 a.m. Tuesday when they face Johnson County Community College of Overland Park, Kansas. Go Cyclones!
