Moraine Valley to Host a Teen Sports Night

Teens looking for a sporty night of free fun are invited to participate in a Sports Extravaganza.

Teens looking for a sporty night of free fun are invited to participate in a Sports Extravaganza on Friday, April 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Moraine Valley Community College’s gym, 9000 W. College Pkwy in Palos Hills.

Moraine Valley students pursuing degrees in Recreation Management are planning the affair. Throughout the semester they have been learning how to plan and implement an event for teens, including marketing, receiving donations, planning appropriate activities, and recruiting volunteers, said Donna McCauley, Recreation Management and Recreation Therapy coordinator. Park districts and recreation departments in Worth, Palos Heights, Tinley Park, Alsip, and Oak Lawn have helped students prepare. Last year was the first time her class coordinated an event for teenagers.

This event is open to all teens from 13 to 15 years old. There will be activities throughout the night, including soccer, basketball, baseball, bags, and fricket (disc cricket). Prizes will be awarded.
