What's new @ Marist???

What's new @ Marist???

As we round out the last couple of weeks in the month of September, it's always great to reflect on all the great achievements!

-The Marist football team took on defending state runner up Joliet Catholic at home last friday, and the game was nothing but memorable!  Last years game had plenty of fireworks and this years was no different.  With a touchdown strike from Ian Woodworth to Bryan Polak in the final seconds, the top ranked Redhawks snatched victory from the always game Hilltoppers.  Leading the way offensively for the Redhawks was Senior Qb Woodworth, who was 26-42 for 256 yards and 1 TD.  Peter Andreotti led the ground attack with 24 carries for 158 yards and 2 TD's. Steve McGugan was also a force, rushing for 1 TD and also recording 2 sacks on defense.

-Marist High School will celebrate homecoming week September 30-October 6. Students, parents and alumni are encouraged to get involved!

On Sunday, September 30, there will be a family mass at 10am in the cafeteria. Responses are requested by Wednesday 9/26.

Monday through Friday will feature a dress down theme for students. Being creative and participating in these themes helps add energy and excitement to the week. Each evening there is a special event held. This year there is a faculty/student soccer game, trivia night, a rollerskating party, an outdoor movie night, and powder puff football.

During the week, our students will be working hard in the classroom, continuing with club activities and representing the RedHawks in athletic competitions. The homecoming football game is on Friday 10/5 with varsity kickoff at 7:30pm against Notre Dame. A spectacular fireworks display will follow the game.

Saturday night, 10/6, is the homecoming dance.

-The Girls Volleyball team took home the hardware, defeating Mother McAuley in the Rich East Tournament championship game! They head to Providence Catholic tomorrow (9/25).

-Boys Soccer was impressive Saturday, defeating Notre Dame 8-0. They are now 10-4-2 and host conference foe Marian Catholic Wednesday 9/26 at 6:30 in the Red & White Stadium.

-Cross country couldn't be stopped Saturday. Marist's Maggie O'Loughlin and Kyle Hauser took first in the girls and boys races. Their teammates weren't far behind with top finishes, including Julie Yaeger in second. As a team, the girls finished first and the boys were third!

-Tennis had a great day at the Reavis Quad, coming in second place. They missed out on the top prize by only a few points. They host Providence tomorrow 9/25 at 4:30. Senior night will be on Wednesday against McAuley at 4pm.

-Hockey skated to a 3-0 win over the defending Indiana state champs over the weekend!

-Girls and boys golf head to the ESCC Championships Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
