Marist High School welcomed back the student body as a whole last week and had many things to talk about!
-At a recent pep rally Marist celebrated the STATE CHAMPION Girls Softball team with a banner, trophy and ring presentation. Led by Coach of the Year Denise Bromberek, the Lady RedHawks went on a tear during the post season to capture the schools first female state title. Congrats to the "Lady Birds".
-In Football this past week, the top ranked Redhawks took on neighborhood foe St Rita for the first time since 2005. Both teams highly ranked in the state, shared a big stage as part of the kickoff classic hosted at historic Soldier Field in front of a HUGE Marist crowd. The RedHawks prevailed 35-25 behind a strong offensive performance by Ian Woodworth, Peter Andreotti and Nic Weishar. The defense was led by Shannon Smith, Josh Hickey and Cody Bohanek. Next up for the top ranked RedHawks is rival Brother Rice Friday night at 7:30pm. GO REDHAWKS!
-Also celebrated were 2 Marist seniors named to National Merit Finalists. Lucy Enright and Chris Shroba scored in the top 1% for the entire country on the PSAT. Congrats on such a great achievement!
