Marist Finishes off September with a BANG!

Marist Finishes off September with a BANG!

Welcome back to the weekly blog post for Marist High School. Here are some of things the REDHAWKS accomplished to close out September.

-On Friday night, the top ranked Marist football team took on a very game Carmel Catholic squad in Mundelein. Last years game was non-stop scoring affair, with the RedHawks coming out on top 64-63 in double overtime.  This years tussle was much more one sided.

Marist stormed out to a 21-0 lead at half led by QB Ian Woodworth, who was 20-for-25, 211 yards, 2 TDs and Junior running back Peter Andreotti, with 27 carries, 135 yards, 1TD.

The second half of play was rather uneventful with both teams trading touchdowns for a final of 28-7.

The top ranked RedHawks take on the Motre Dame Dons this friday for homecoming.  Sophomore game starts at 5:00pm and the varsity at 7:30pm.

Come out and support the boys!

-Last week Marist was awarded with 8 National Merit Commended Students.

These students are among only 34,000 nationally from a pool of 1.5 million who earned recognition of their outstanding academic promise based on their PSAT score. Commended Students are named on the basis of a nationally applied Selection Index score that may vary from year to year and is typically below the level required for participants to be named Semifinalists in their respective states. Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, some of these students do become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses
