A Palos firefighter from Evergreen Park faces months of recovery after a ceiling collapsed on him during an October fire, Sun-Times Media reports.

Michael “Sully” Sullivan, a part-time firefighter with North Palos Fire Protection District, was trapped during a fire on Oct. 6, injuring his knee, shoulder and back, according to the report.

Three firefighters were injured while battling the blaze on the 13200 block of S. 84th Court when a large portion of ceiling fell on top of the men, Fire Chief Patrick Gericke reported at the time. Two of the men were treated and released that same day.

Sullivan applied almost 20 years ago to become a firefighter with the Palos district, the report states. Now 44 years old, the Evergreen Park man faces rehabilitation after enduring herniated discs and surgery.

A fundraiser will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 8 at Krapils Steakhouse & Patio, located at 6600 W. 111th Street, Worth. Cost is $40 per person.
