Palos Firefighter's Daughter in Fight For Her Life, Benefit on Saturday

Emma Goldschnikl was born four months premature.

Josh and Dana Goldschnikl were expecting their baby to arrive on Nov. 16, 2012. The couple was surprised when little Emma Mae was born on July 30, four months premature.

Weighing only one pound, 8 ounces the little girl faced a long list of serious health struggles including a long-term incubation, a hole in her heart, multiple blood infections, blood transfusions, lung and breathing problems and
issues with her retinas.

It is a struggle that continues to this day.

Her father Josh, a firefighter in Palos Park, and mom Dana, a special education teacher in Frankfort, face medical bills over $2 million, according to the family.

A benefit is being held for the family at the Alley/Thunderbowl, 18700 S. Old LaGrange Road from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. Tickets at the door are $30 for adults and $10 for children. Performing live will be Maggie Speaks and the Loop Rockers.

The event includes a buffet dinner, wine and beer. Plenty of family activities will be on hand in addition to raffles, auctions and live entertainment.

You can find out more about the event as well as follow Emma's progress on the Emma's Fight For Life Facebook page.
