What To Do This Weekend

Your weekend planning guide.

After one sweltering summer many of you might be relieved to find Labor Day weekend is finally upon us. As always, Palos Patch has been compiling a list of all the events going on in your community.

  • The Center's annual Rummage Sale kicks off Friday and carries on to Saturday. Open from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. both days. The event is a fundraiser for the organization. Peruse a variety of housewares, books, electronics, clothing and much more.  Find more information here.
  • The highlight of this weekend's sports happenings is the Stagg vs. Sandburg football game. The two District 230 rivals face off Friday night. The game will be played at Andrew because neither school's artificial turf fields have been completed. You can read our preview of the big game here.
  • Saint Spyridon Hellenic Orthodox Church is holding a community picnic on Labor Day, Sept. 6.
  • The weather this weekend looks to be cool and sunny, the perfect conditions for a walk around Lake Katherine or a visit to one of your neighborhood parks.
  • If the serenity of a nature walk isn't quite your style, the area's big event is the Frankfort Fall Festival. The fest has a wide range of local artisans selling handmade products, live entertainment and carnival rides. For more details click here.

Whatever you decide to do this weekend, make sure you enjoy these last few days of summer.
